Poppy never wanted to do it - her friends made her. It's all their fault. Well, nearly all.
This lovely story of a friendship blossoming into—just maybe—more hits all the right notes, with an unsure Poppy who finds herself increasingly attracted to an oblivious (or not!) Pomona. I started out just as irritated as Poppy at her friends' meddling and her "ruined" holiday, then wrung my imaginary hands with her worry at Pomona's reaction, even as I chuckled (o gently, friends) at her realizations that things (friends, package holiday) may not be quite as she judged. TRS has perfectly captured the way even the most sensible and mature of ladies can turn into a trembling adolescent as she navigates the highs and lows of burgeoning attraction.
