Since its inaugural go in 2010, HoggyWarty has been among the standouts in the crowded field of Harry Potter fandom fests, not only because of the consistently terrific fanworks it’s showcased over the years, but also because of the supportive community and, most especially, mod therealsnape and co-mod kellychambliss.
The fest has always felt like a real party, with fun mod posts by some of Hogwarts’s most illustrious (or infamous) denizens, and it has always been one of the highlights of my fannish year. Even in the years I wasn’t able to participate (because, you know … Real Life sucks sometimes), the warm, lively, funny, and generous community of fan creators at HoggyWarty uplifted and cheered me, somehow making the prospect of the year to come a brighter one.
So, without further ado, here are some of my favorites from this year’s crop of gems:
It's eight years post war. 2006.
Severus has been wandering the world searching for something: a new place, a new life, a new start, could he find what he wanted back where it all began? Hermione has more than physical scars from the war. Although she teaches at Hogwarts, in her off time she lives a quiet life in a Muggle village under an assumed name.
A post-war story about nostalgia and healing, featuring ice and snow, festive hot drinks, and a little romance.
After the war, not everything is ideal, and discrimination is still there - the wrong family members or blood status still matter, somehow. Minister Shacklebolt and Professor Snape both work on improving what they can... and may develop more than a working relationship on the way.
When Alastor asks Minerva to a night at the opera, her friends are possibly more excited than she is.
